According to a recent study, regular bean eaters are 22 percent less likely to be overweight and have smaller waistlines than those who pass on legumes. Beans release energy slowly into the body, making them a great weight loss food, says Marissa Vicario, a certified holistic health coach in New York City. “They are also high in protein and fiber, which satiates the appetite and helps keep you full for longer periods of time.” Add them as a side dish or into ground meat, casserole dishes or salads.
